The Bingara Advocate ... a locally owned, independent publication
The Bingara Advocate has been operating since 1943 and is delivered to the Bingara, Upper Bingara and Upper Horton districts. Bingara is part of the Gwydir Shire, which is approximately 605km north of Sydney and 485km south west of Brisbane.

The Gwydir Shire is a rich and productive area. Cattle, lambs, pigs, wheat, sorghum, lucerne, oats and pulse crops are all produced in the area. Tourism also injects dollars into the local economy with many an attraction enticing travelers to visit.

Bingara is in the centre of the Fossickers' Way, a route which offers the traveller a quiet alternative to the New England or Newell highways.

Activities often include fishing in the Gwydir River, white water rafting, fossicking for gold and semi-precious stones, trail riding on horseback, visits to Copeton Dam, as well as driving tours and bushwalking.
